I have created this blog because I wanted to be able to share my love of sewing with fellow crafters. Sewing & Crafting are one of the loves in my life and a wonderful relaxing hobby. I hope to help inspire and encourage others by showing my creations.

To this I will add that I need a place to document my thoughts and feelings as I go through this journey called life. Every time I try to start a writing journal, it lasts for about a week. I am hoping that this format "sticks" for me better than what I have done in the past.

I MUST share with you how wonderful my dear hubby is. Just take a look at these BEAUTIFUL custom built-in cabinets has made for me. This is my living room where guests enter my home. This is also where all the TOYS have a home.

I must say I am a little OCD when it comes to buckets, containers, tubs, baskets, etc. for everything to have nice organized place for it to reside. Now, that being said . . . things are not always in the correct place, or sometimes they tend to collect on those "flat" surfaces around my home (the hutch, the counter, the table, etc) . . . but at least they all have a home where they SHOULD be.

This project took us about $400 in wood and supplies (not including the storage bins) and about 3 good weekends to complete. I am very pleased with the way they have turned-out. Perhaps "someday" I will be able to have a 'store-front' in my home where I can teach sewing classes, or sell fabric, and/or even have a long-arm sewing machine for quilting. Ahh . . . . dreams can come true . . . . all in good time!

Here are photos of the PRAYER BLANKETS I have made in the past. These Prayer Blankets are sewn with love and prayers for those who receive the blanket. It is a symbol of a faith-sharing community "covering with prayer the individual who receives it."

The prayer blanket brings comfort to the suffering, and peace to the fearful. God has used this beautiful ministry not only to touch the lives of countless people who have received the Prayer Blankets while they are going through extremely difficult times in their lives, but the lives of those involved in the ministry as well. What a blessing it is to have those who give abundantly of their time, talents, and treasures, making this Prayer Blanket ministry possible.

I no longer have been making these, however, now my Grandmother has been making them for local folks who need them. She has made over SIXTY prayer blankets since Memorial Day 2010!! She too has been blessed with prayers and healing as those who receive them continue to pray for HER as well. She only asks that the new receiver of these blankets pray for the needs of the OTHER 75+ receivers needs in addition to their own.

Here is a photo (poor photography with my cell phone camera) of the very first project I sewed all by myself. I bought the Damask fabric at a WalMart on clearance, as the store was eliminating their fabric department. More and more of the local WalMart stores seem to me doing this :( The black fabric is a "black-on-black" bubble fabric, which I have seen at Walmart or at JoAnn Fabrics as well. The lap blanket was machine-pieced, and hand-quilted. The heart was from my own free-hand design.
This blanket was given to a very dear friend for her birthday last summer.

So here I am, starting this BLOG thing. Hopefully I will be more diligent at this than the last one. This is a pic of myself ~ I don't take many of these. The camera hates me.
My children will have those "motherless" photos because I am always the one behind the camera, and I just do not tend to photograph well.

Enough about me, I am here to blog about my LOVE for sewing and being crafty ~ and hopefully along the way, I might encourage others to be crafty as well. After the Lord himself, and my beautiful family, SEWING is at the top of my list of TRUE LOVES. I find it relaxing and de-stressing to be in my sewing room and creating things for my loved ones.
